Work in the Convent

Contrary to general opinion,  the Vatican does not contribute to our upkeep.  Each day we live according to providence.  As St. Benedict desired our upkeep depends on the work of our own hands.

Above all we continue to carryout  the art of embroidery   (arte del ricamo) which was part of daily work in Convents in the past.  It is a craft which requires patience and precision which began centuries  ago and enables us to produce unique pieces of work entirely by hand.

Crochet, cross stitch, ‘macramé’, tatting  and others, all ancient handcraft techniques which nowadays  are disappearing,  permit us to produce articles which are highly regarded all over the world.
